Is this the real reason to have kids?
Obviously we should not have children solely to boost our egos — in fact, expecting our kids to boost our egos or make us look good is probably the reason so many millennials don’t speak to their Boomer parents — but I do think we can model for our kids how to Hype Squad each other and the people they love.
Take, for instance, the cutest TikTok I’ve seen in a while. A little girl is asked by her mom to take a quick video of her walking away. What she didn’t expect was for her daughter to provide a soundtrack.
The reason this is so cute isn’t just the little voice and the mom laughing when she hears it. It’s that you know this child learned this sort of vibe-boosting support from somewhere … and it’s probably her parents. With all that sweetness and support comes the desire to share the good feelings with others.
